Water Heater Repair & Installation in Knoxville, TN

No hot water on a Tuesday morning. A puddle under the tank. A pilot light that won’t stay lit. When your water heater quits, your whole day shifts around it — and on qualifying tanks we install, you’ll never buy another water heater again.

The Plumber Knoxville Homeowners Call When the Hot Water Goes Out

Most people don’t think about their water heater until it stops working. Then it’s everything — no shower before work, no warm dishwater, sometimes a slow puddle creeping across the garage floor. You don’t need a sales pitch. You need someone to show up, tell you what’s actually going on, and get the hot water back on.

Bizzy B Plumbing has worked on water heaters across the Knoxville area, Maryville, and Alcoa for over a decade — gas, electric, conventional tank, and tankless. We’ve seen every brand, every age, every problem. When we show up, we’ll tell you whether it makes sense to repair it or replace it, and you’ll have an honest estimate before any work starts.

And if it’s time for a new one, here’s what makes the call easier: on qualifying electric tanks we install, we cover it for as long as you own your home. Stay on our yearly maintenance plan, and you don’t buy another one. Ever.

Repair or Replace? Here’s How We Help You Decide.

Here’s something most plumbers don’t tell you: a conventional water heater in the Knoxville area usually lasts 8 to 12 years. Not 15. Not 20. East Tennessee water carries enough mineral content that sediment builds up in the bottom of the tank faster than the manufacturer warranty assumes — which means the element burns out sooner, the tank corrodes from the inside, and lukewarm showers start showing up earlier than you’d expect. A tankless system, properly maintained, runs 15 to 20 years. Same minerals, different design.

So when your water heater starts giving you trouble, the first question isn’t “repair or replace” — it’s “where is this one in its lifecycle?” A 4-year-old electric tank with a failed element is almost always worth repairing. A 12-year-old tank with a leak at the base is almost always worth replacing. We’ll tell you which one fits your situation, what each option costs, and what we’d do if it were our own home. You make the call.

Water Heater Problems We Help Knoxville Homeowners Solve

  • No hot water at all. Usually a tripped breaker, a failed heating element, or a dead thermostat on electric — or a pilot light that’s blown out on gas. We diagnose first, then fix.
  • Lukewarm water that runs out fast. Sediment buildup at the bottom of the tank is reducing how much water actually gets heated. Sometimes a flush solves it. Sometimes the tank is past saving.
  • A puddle around the base of the heater. This is the one to take seriously. A leak from the tank itself usually means the tank is done. A leak from a fitting or valve is often repairable.
  • Rusty or discolored hot water. Could be the anode rod is done. Could be the inside of the tank is corroding. Either way, it’s worth a look before it gets worse.
  • Popping, rumbling, or banging during heating. That’s water trying to push past a heavy sediment layer at the bottom of the tank. Annoying — and a signal the tank is working harder than it should.
  • Rising energy bills with no other explanation. A failing element or thermostat makes the heater run longer to hit the same temperature. The bill creeps up before anything obviously breaks.

Repair or Replace? We’ll Help You Decide

  • Age of the unit. Under 6 years old, repair is almost always the right call. Past 10 years, replacement starts making more sense than throwing money at it.
  • Where the problem is. A leak from a fitting, a valve, or an element is usually repairable. A leak from the tank itself almost never is — the tank is the one part we can’t rebuild.
  • What it’ll cost vs. what comes next. If a repair costs more than half the price of a new heater on a 9-year-old tank, the math usually points to replacement. We’ll do the math out loud so you can see it.
  • Whether you want peace of mind. Some homeowners want to get every last year out of the tank they’ve got. Others would rather replace it now and stop worrying. Both are valid. We’ll respect whichever one you choose.

Our Water Heater Services in Knoxville, TN

  • Water heater repair. Diagnosing and fixing failed elements, thermostats, pilot assemblies, dip tubes, and valves on tank and tankless systems. Same-day in most cases.
  • Water heater replacement. Full removal of the old unit, installation of the new one, old heater hauled away. We size the new tank to your home’s actual hot water demand — not just “whatever was there before.”
  • Tank water heaters. Conventional gas and electric tanks, 30 to 80 gallons. We install Bradford White and other top-tier brands — none of the disposable-grade tanks you’ll find at the big-box stores.
  • Tankless water heaters. On-demand systems for homeowners who want to stop replacing a tank every decade. We install Navien — the brand with the parts availability and warranty support that makes tankless worth owning.
  • Ongoing maintenance. Annual flushing, anode rod monitoring, and the yearly checkup that keeps the lifetime warranty active on tanks we installed.

  • We stand behind the install. On qualifying electric tanks we install, we cover it for as long as you own the home — provided it stays on our yearly maintenance plan. No fine print about “lifetime of the product.” Lifetime of you owning the house.

Never Buy Another Water Heater. Here's How That Works.

Most “lifetime warranties” on water heaters mean the manufacturer covers the tank for the lifetime of the product — which is 6 to 12 years. Same as the regular warranty, just with fancier paperwork. Ours is different.

When we install a qualifying electric tank in your home, we cover the tank itself, the elements, and the thermostats — for as long as you own the home. Your water heater fails? We come out and rebuild it at no charge for the parts. No fine print about “lifetime of the product.” Lifetime of you owning the house.

  • The water heater has to be one we installed. We can’t warranty a tank we didn’t put in.
  • You stay on our yearly maintenance plan. A quick annual visit keeps the tank flushed, the anode rod monitored, and the system running the way it should. Small upkeep prevents the big failures — that’s how the warranty stays honest.
  • The coverage is for one home. If you move, the warranty doesn’t move with you to the new house, and it doesn’t transfer to the next owner.
  • Labor on a full swap is still charged. There’s time and travel involved when a tank needs replacement. But the parts — the heater itself, year after year — are covered.

Here's What Happens When You Call

Our CSR answers the phone — a real person, not a recording. She gets the details: what’s happening, what kind of water heater you have, how soon you need someone there. Then she books you into the day,  in most cases the same day you call, and you’ll get a text when the tech is on the way so you’re not waiting around wondering.

When your tech shows up, they’ll look at the whole picture — not just the symptom you called about. You’ll get a real diagnosis, real options for fixing it, and an honest estimate before any work starts. No surprises on the invoice. No upsells you didn’t ask for. Just the call you made, handled the way it should be.

Frequently Asked Questions About Water Heater Services in Knoxville, TN

1. How long should a water heater last in the Knoxville area?

A conventional tank water heater in the Knoxville area typically lasts 8 to 12 years. East Tennessee water carries enough mineral content that sediment builds up faster than the manufacturer warranty assumes — which shortens the lifespan compared to what you’d see in softer-water parts of the country. A tankless system, properly maintained, runs 15 to 20 years. If yours is past those numbers and giving you trouble, it’s usually not worth a major repair.

2. Should I repair my water heater or replace it?

It depends on the age of the unit and where the problem is. A 4-year-old electric tank with a failed element is almost always worth repairing. A 12-year-old tank with a leak at the base is almost always worth replacing — the tank is the one part we can’t rebuild. When our tech comes out, we’ll tell you which one fits your situation, what each option costs, and what we’d do if it were our own home. You make the call.

3. Do you offer same-day water heater service?

In most cases, yes. We answer the phones around the clock and dispatch from Alcoa and Knoxville every weekday. Call (865) 233-3900 — we’ll let you know when we can be there.

4. What's the difference between a tank and a tankless water heater?

A tank stores 30 to 80 gallons of hot water continuously, so it’s always ready when you need it. A tankless system heats water on demand as it flows through — no storage, no standby heat loss, no running out during long showers. Tankless costs more upfront but lasts longer and uses less energy. We install both, and we’ll tell you straight which one fits your home and how you actually use water.

5. Do you offer a warranty on water heater installs?

Yes, and ours works differently than most. On qualifying electric tanks we install, we cover the tank, the elements, and the thermostats for as long as you own the home — provided it stays on our yearly maintenance plan. No fine print about “lifetime of the product.” Lifetime of you owning the house. Gas water heaters and tankless systems have their own manufacturer warranty structures, which we’ll walk you through if that’s the route you take.

6. My water heater is leaking — what should I do right now?

First, shut off the water supply to the heater. There’s a valve on the cold-water line going into the top of the tank — turn it clockwise until it stops. If it’s a gas unit, also shut off the gas. If it’s electric, flip the breaker. Then call (865) 233-3900 and we’ll get a tech out the same day to stop the damage.

7. Why does my water heater make popping or rumbling noises?

That’s sediment at the bottom of the tank — mineral deposits from the water that settled and hardened over time. As the burner or element fires, water tries to push past that layer and makes the popping or rumbling sound. It’s the tank working harder than it should. Sometimes a flush solves it. Sometimes it means the tank is near the end of its life.

8.Do you offer financing for a new water heater?

We do. A new water heater isn’t an expense most people budget for, especially when the old one quits on a Saturday. We partner with Lend Home Improvement for fast financing with a soft credit check and same-day approval. Ask the tech when they’re at your home and they’ll walk you through it.
